"Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven (standing firm and unchangeable)." –Psalm 119:89 AMP
Since earlier this year, this verse has been stirring in my spirit so strongly. Life can feel overwhelming, and it is easy to get caught up in circumstances and forget that God said what He said. Challenges will come, but I want to encourage you: do not let those situations defeat you. Instead, choose to say what God says—because forever His Word is settled in heaven, standing firm and unchangeable.
Say What God Says
When you are feeling overwhelmed or walking through a difficult season, anchor yourself in the Word of God. Instead of speaking fear, frustration, or doubt, declare what God has already said.
For example, if you experience seasons of suffering:
Suffering is real. It is uncomfortable. It is not something we enjoy. But here is the truth, straight from the Word of God:
“You will have to suffer only a little while; after that, God, who is full of grace, the one who called you to his eternal glory in union with the Messiah, will himself restore, establish and strengthen you and make you firm.” – 1 Peter 5:10 CJB
So, what does this mean for you?
- The suffering is only for a little while—it is temporary.
- God is full of grace—He is carrying you through.
- He has called you to His eternal glory through Jesus.
- God Himself will restore, establish, strengthen, and make you firm.
No matter what you’re facing, be encouraged. God said what He said, and He does not change:
"I am the Lord, and I do not change; and you, children of Jacob, have not perished." – Malachi 3:6 CEB
Prepare and Practice
Think about the three most difficult emotions or seasons you’ve experienced more than once. It could be fear, loss, discouragement, or uncertainty. Now, take these steps:
- Search the Scriptures – Find out what God says about those situations.
- Meditate on His Word – Read it, repeat it, and let it take root in your spirit.
- Stand on His Word – Resist the urge to be shaken when challenges arise. Declare what God has said and rest in the knowledge and assurance that FOREVER His Word is settled in heaven.
You Can Count on God
Stand firm in His Word. Speak His promises. There is safety, strength, and success in His truth.
