What would you do if you stopped waiting for what you believe is the right moment and simply moved?
A move in the direction God has been pointing you in.
I have been thinking about this a lot. About what it actually takes to build momentum when the next steps are unclear, and the gap between where we are and where we know we’re supposed to be feels wide.
What I keep coming back to is this: momentum does not require a perfect start. It requires a faithful one.
The Weight of Waiting
Most of us are not stuck because we are unwilling. We are stuck because we are waiting.
Waiting until the plan is clearer. Waiting until we feel more confident. Waiting until the season is less busy, or the idea is more developed, or the fear settles down enough to move.
But waiting has a way of stretching. Days become weeks. Weeks become months. And the thing God placed in our hands is still sitting there, still waiting for us to pick it up and do something with it.
I have been in that place. Longer than I want to admit. And what I have learned is that clarity rarely comes before movement. It comes with it.
What Momentum Actually Looks Like
We tend to picture momentum as something that looks and feels significant. A breakthrough. A visible result. A moment when things finally click into place.
But most of the time, momentum isn’t elaborate. It looks like sitting down to work when you do not feel inspired. It looks like sending the email you have been drafting for weeks. It looks like praying over something before you pick it back up instead of pushing through on your own.
Galatians 6:9 NKJV tells us, ‘And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.’
Continuing is an act of faith. Staying prayerful is an act of faith. Taking the next small step when results are not visible yet is an act of faith. Don’t grow weary. Keep doing good.
Growing While We Go
One of the things I have had to stop doing is waiting until I feel established enough to move forward. Waiting until I had more experience, more clarity, more of whatever I thought I was missing.
I am learning that we grow as we go. Strength builds as we stay in prayer and keep taking steps. As we continue to study the Word and God and apply it to our everyday lives. Our confidence is built in Christ as we learn to depend on Him in all things. We aren’t always “established” before the work begins; we grow through the work. We grow as we go.
Philippians 1:6 NKJV tells us, ‘being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.’
He began it. He will complete it. Our part is to keep walking and trust our Father.
Growth is happening if we are still moving with God. Still praying. Still studying and applying the Word of God. Still obeying. Still showing up for the work He gave us.
You Are Not Doing This Alone
One important truth that I have not only learned but have truly received in my heart is that I am not alone. I don’t have to plan and work independently. I have God and the resources HE provides.
We have a good Father. He wants us to draw near to Him. He created the works for us to walk in, so we walk with Him. The things of God are done with God.
Isaiah 41:10 NKJV tells us, ‘Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’’
When we become frustrated or feel like we’re at our breaking points, it’s often a sign to slow down, return to Scripture, and pray. Remember that God has given us this assignment. God cares about us, and we have everything we need through Him.
Be Encouraged
You can begin (or begin again) the work God has created for you to walk in. You can continue, so keep going in what God has called you to. You don’t have to have everything perfect; you are growing as you go. And God is with you in every step.
Small steps count. Your momentum is building.
Take care!
Reflection
What is one step you have been waiting to take? What would it look like to take it this week, with prayer, and trust God to direct you as you move?
